No better choice, says BJP chief

By Our Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR JUNE 11. The president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Jana Krishnamurty, today hoped that noted scientist, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, would emerge as the consensus candidate for next month's Presidential election.

Talking to presspersons here, Mr. Krishnamurty said that there could not be a better choice than Dr. Kalam, who was above all political affiliations.

He expressed the hope that the Congress and other parties would agree with the decision of the ruling National Democratic Alliance in choosing him as the country's next President.

Mr. Krishnamurty, who is in Orissa to attend a two-day convention of party workers at Cuttack, observed that if chosen for the post, Dr. Kalam would be the first scientist to hold such a high office anywhere in the world.
