Any time is fine by me, says Kalam

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JUNE 11. At a time when astrologers and fortune tellers are much sought after by politicians to figure out their propitious time, the National Democratic Alliance's presidential nominee, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, said today: "Any time is auspicious for me'' to file his nomination.

India's very own "missile man'' made this remark when the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Pramod Mahajan, rang him up to know if he had any suitable date in mind for filing the nomination for the Presidential poll. "Whenever you people think it is right,'' was the reply Mr. Mahajan got from Dr. Kalam.

Further, giving expression to his scientific temper, Dr. Kalam said: "The Earth rotates around its own axis and we get day and night. The Earth orbits around the Sun and we get one year per orbit. As long as these two astronomical — not astrological — events take place, any time is an auspicious time for me.''
