In a statement, she said that when the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, spoke to her on Monday, he mentioned Dr. Kalam's name. ``I told him that I was delighted with the choice. Now that Dr. Kalam has been declared as the Presidential candidate by the Prime Minister, I am happy to announce that the AIADMK will extend its support to his election as the President,'' she said. ``Apart from the fact that Dr. Kalam is an eminent and internationally renowned scientist who is respected all over the world, it is a matter of great pride and happiness for the AIADMK that he belongs to Tamil Nadu,'' she added. Ms. Jayalalithaa telephoned Dr. Kalam to convey her congratulations and best wishes. He expressed his happiness and thanks, a State Government press release said.
