Three draws would be held for the benefit of individuals depositing amounts in the National Savings Scheme during the current financial year. The first draw is for those depositing amounts between April 1 and September 30, 2002, and the second between October 1, 2002, and March 31, 2003. The third is a bumper draw, covering depositors during the entire financial year. Each Rs. 5,000 deposit would be given a coupon each for the draws. The first prize for the bumper draw is a Lancer car or Rs. 9.40 lakhs, according to the preference of the winner. The other two half-yearly draws have a Ford Ikon car (or Rs. 7.30 lakhs) each as the first prizes. A Government press note today said the target this financial year would be to mobilise a gross amount of Rs. 4,580 crores for the National Savings Scheme. The net amount targeted is Rs. 1,825 crores.
