Letters to the Editor
Sir, Abdul Kalam is the right choice for the country, but is the Presidency the right choice for him. He is young (yes, he really is), dynamic and the coolest choice. As a scientist, he is the greatest source of inspiration for us students and as the President, he will continue to be a greatest source of inspiration for million others. He has undoubtedly the greatest scientific acumen, but will he be able to understand the political jargon of our country. He should remember that as President, his commitment would be different. He should also remember that five years from now, he could be slighted just as K.R.Narayanan and P.C.Alexander have been and could end up being volleyed between the Opposition and the ruling party. Anuradha. R, Chennai Sir, The choice of Abdul Kalam for the Presidential post is good. I once interviewed him for the departmental magazine of my college and was impressed by his vision for India and his eagerness to meet the youth of the country. He can lead the country with his indomitable energy. Sundaresan S, Karaikal, TN
