Sir, It was heartening to see most major political parties put aside their differences in support of Abdul Kalam for the post of President. The admiration and respect Dr. Kalam commands cuts across religion and politics. Given his intellectual calibre one can rest assured that he would discharge his duties to the best of his ability and not acquire the title of a `rubber stamp'. Sharmila Kumar, Thiruvananathapuram
