Task Force on job scheme to seek expert advice

New Delhi June 14. The Task Force on the `Jaya Prakash Rozgar Guarantee Yojna' will invite suggestions from experts all over the country to formulate foolproof guidelines for the new rural employment scheme.

This was decided at the third meeting of the Task Force here on Thursday chaired by the Rural Development Minister, M. Venkaiah Naidu. The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh, was a special invitee.

The Task Force unanimously decided that it was necessary to invite a wide range of suggestions from experts to ensure effective formulation and implementation of the new scheme.

Mr. Singh emphasised the need for targeting the programme to the most distressed area for better utilisation of resources. This could be done on the basis of food security, drought-vulnerability, assets, proportion of tribes, forest fringe and scheduled castes.

The objective of the programme should be to provide 150 days' guaranteed employment to the most needy and that the wage employment be supplemented by self-employment. The meeting was attended by the Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Minister, Ananth Kumar, Minister for Rural, Agri Industries, Karia Munda, and the Minister of State for Finance, Babasaheb Vikhe Patil.
