Chasing NCA's 190, ZCA was cruising along with captain Y. Gyaneswar Rao (66) playing a steady hand. The middle-order batsman revelled with his drives and stepped on the accelerator, pulling his brother Y. Venugopala Rao for six past mid-wicket. And ZCA, which will form the nucleus of the India under-19 team for the England tour in July, seemed on course for an easy victory. However the ZCA slump began when Mark Ingty (four for 23), returned for his second spell and rapped Gyaneswar's pads. Ingty bowled sharp and attacked the stumps and ZCA plummeted from 158 for five to 177 all out in 42.1 overs. And when an airborne Vinayak Mane took a splendid catch at short cover to dismiss Kuldeep Rawat off seamer Siddharth Trivedi, the last wicket had fallen and the NCA camp led by coaches Balwinder Singh Sandhu and Lalchand Rajput broke into smiles. Earlier, NCA thrived on a 92-run second-wicket partnership between opener Vinayak Mane (49) and skipper D. Vinay Kumar (53). However leg-spinner Timil Patel's four for 43 spell curtailed the runs before wicket-keeper batsman Naman Ojha chipped in an unbeaten 39. NCA scored 190 for nine in 50 overs. The scores: NCA 190 for nine in 50 overs (D. Vinay Kumar 53, Vinayak Mane 49, Naman Ojha 39 n.o., Timil Patel four for 43) bt ZCA 177 in 42.1 overs (Y. Gnaneshwar Rao 66, Maninder Bisla 38, Suresh Raina 29, Mark Ingty four for 23, Yogesh three for 48).
