Panel on water sharing formed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM JUNE 14. The Government has constituted a technical committee comprising three nominees each from Kerala and Tamil Nadu on sharing of the waters of the Parambikulam-Aliyar Project.

The committee has been asked to submit its report in three months, the Water Resources Minister, T. M. Jacob, told the Assembly today.

Replying to a submission by K. A. Chandran (Congress), the Minister said the decision to constitute the committee was taken at a meeting between him and the Tamil Nadu Irrigation Minister, Panneerselvam, on June 10.

Plus Two: The Education Minister, Nalakath Soopy, told Raju Abraham (CPI-M) that the Government would soon take a decision on sanctioning unaided Plus Two courses in aided schools. The Government would also soon come out with the norms regarding sanctioning of Plus Two courses in unaided schools. Such courses would not be sanctioned in aided and Government schools, he said.

Legislation: The Health Minister, P. Sankaran, said that the Government would soon bring forward a legislation to check food adulteration. Replying to a submission by Shobhana George (Congress), he said the proposed legislation would also cover pan masala.
