The Inspector General of Police, Jammu, P.L. Gupta, told a press conference today the Pakistani militant has been identified as Zulfiquar and is a resident of Gujranwal in Pakistan. The other, Zakir, is a resident of Doda district. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the militants belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba. The Pakistani national had in the past crossed over to this side thrice and gone back. He had stayed in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu region before shifting his base to Jammu city eight months ago. The module in Jammu city headed by Zulfiquar which apart from directing the terrorist acts against establishments and civilians was entrusted with funding the LeT in Jammu region. For carrying out their activities the militants had secured a house whose owners are being investigated. Documents recovered from the militants reveal that they were in possession of Rs. 20 lakhs.
