Well-placed sources indicated here that the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Pramod Mahajan, is likely to go to Chennai to escort Dr. Kalam to the capital. Indications are that the NDA's parliamentary managers would want Dr. Kalam to file his "Presidential Papers' on June 18. It is not clear yet whether the Congress and the Samajwadi Party would also file papers separately or together endorsing the candidature of Dr. Kalam. The NDA's Presidential nominee was also met by the Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Vijay Goel, in Chennai yesterday. During his meeting with Mr. Goel, Dr. Kalam conveyed his desire to continue with his research and teaching activities even after assuming the office of the President.
