New Delhi June 15. Alleging that the constitutional machinery has collapsed in Punjab, the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal MLAs and MPs from the State today sought the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee's immediate intervention to ``save the State.''

The MPs and legislators, who met Mr. Vajpayee here for nearly 90 minutes, suggested that an NDA team be sent to Punjab to assess the situation as the Congress Government ``is acting with political vendetta against our workers and has unleashed a reign of terror.'' The Union Minister, S. S. Dhindsa, was also a part of the delegation. He said the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, L. K. Advani, assured them that their demand for sending an NDA team would be considered and their complaints looked into. — PTI
