Ganguly regrets for Srinath's absence

KOLKATA JUNE 16. The Indian captain Sourav Ganguly regretted the absence of Javagal Srinath, whose presence would have lent the vital experience to the team's pace battery.

The skipper said here on the eve prior to joining his team en route to an exhaustive 83-day tour of England.

Among the pacebowlers only Ajit Agarkar has the experience of the English conditions while the other three players — Ashish Nehra, Tinu Johanan and Zaheer Khan would be making their first, the Indian captain was quoted as saying.

Ganguly, having spent a few days with the family, said that England at home will be a different proposition and this will make the tour extremely challenging. — Our Sports Reporter
