Sangeetha is champion

CHENNAI JUNE 17. M.R. Sangeetha of Chennai, with 8 points, lifted the Paruban Manilal Mehta Rolling Trophy in the 30th Tamil Nadu State women's chess tournament, organised by the Thirunelveli District Chess Association at ESI Complex, Vannarpettai, recently.

Madurai's Mahima Rajmohan (8) emerged runner-up while S. Nabeela Farheen (Chennai) (8) came third.

The top four will represent Tamil Nadu in the forthcoming National women's `B' championship.

Final placings: 1. M.R. Sangeetha (Chennai) 8 (progressive score 55.5); 2. Mahima Rajmohan (Madurai) 8 (52.5); 3. S. Nabeela Farheen (Chennai) 8 (51); 4. R. Shakthi Sharanya (Kanchi) 7.5; 5. C. Delphin (Sairam) 7; 6. Anjanaa N. Sowjanya (Kanchi) 7; 7. H. Nilavoli (Chennai) 7; 8. PL. Sivakami (Sivagangai) 7.
