Flights cancelled

Frankfurt June 19. A strike by European air traffic controllers had led to 64 flights being cancelled this morning, officials at the airport here said.

The cancellations involved flights to and from France, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Spain and Portugal.

Air traffic controllers are protesting against liberalisation plans announced by the European Union's executive, the Commission.

The E U plans to put European air space under international control.

A general strike planned in Spain for tomorrow is expected to add to the travellers' hardships. — DPA
