Gopal alleges ill-treatment

ERODE June 21. R.R. Gopal, editor, Nakkeeran, has complained to the Chief Justice that he is being ill-treated by the police. For the second day today, Mr. Gopal appeared before the CB-CID police at Gobichettipalayam for ``interrogation'' in connection with the Kannada actor Rajkumar kidnap case.

He told reporters here this evening that he was ``ill-treated, humiliated and mentally tortured by the enquiry officials''.

He said, without respecting him as a journalist, the enquiry officer was calling him a ``terrorist'' and ``cadre'' and using the word ``accused'' several times.

He had sent telegrams today to Justice Kanakaraj, Justice Subashan Reddy, Chief Justice, Madras High Court, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary , the DGP, the ADGP (Crimes), the Press Council, the NHRC and the SHRC .
