Sushma assures action

New Delhi June 21. The Information and Broadcasting Minister, Sushma Swaraj, today assured a delegation of the Delhi Union of Journalists that action would be taken against the Tihar jail authorities for the ill-treatment meted out to Iftikar Geelani, Chief of Bureau of Kashmir Times while in custody.

Ms. Swaraj said she would take up the issue with the Inspector-General of Prisons and have action initiated against the erring jail staff. She also promised to take up with the Union Home Minister, L.K. Advani, the case registered against the scribe. — UNI
