'Moulvi' attacked

Mysore June 21. A `moulvi' (priest) was admitted to a hospital with severe burns after a group of four masked miscreants attempted to torch him at a suburban area of the city today, police said.

They said the priest was on his way to offer prayers when the miscreants poured petrol on him and torched him before fleeing.

On hearing his distress calls, neighbours rushed to the scene and shifted him to a hospital. Following the incident, security was stepped up in the city. — PTI
