Inaugurating the newly-built Marthanda Varma bridge at Aluva today, the Minister said the super highway will link Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and Kochi. The super highway is expected to be completed in 2007. He also said that the project to link all villages in the country to the national highways would be completed in 2007. A yearly expenditure of Rs. 2,500 crores has been earmarked for the purpose. The States will get Rs. 1,000 crores each for improving road transport facilities and within five years, 40,000 km of national highways will be converted into eight-lane roads from the existing four-lane ones.
