Anti-communalism fight common aim: Naidu

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD JUNE 22. The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has said that there is no difference, as far as the fight against communalism and for protection of secularism is concerned, among the Telugu Desam, Congress, CPI and CPI (M).

"All of us speak one language, we are all for the removal of poverty and development of the deprived sections of society. We have to look at the world around us and learn from the experience of countries like China and Russia,'' Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said, while sharing a platform with A.B.Bardan, general secretary of the CPI, S. Jaipal Reddy, MP, official spokesman of the Congress, B.V.Raghavulu, secretary of the AP Council of the CPI (M), at the golden jubilee celebrations of the CPI daily Visalandhra today. The Communist Party alone had leaders who were known for their selfless service and sacrifice, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said.

Mr. Jaipal Reddy said that in his student days, the political fight was between the Communists and Socialists, but today the fight was between communalists and people believing in humanism. Mr. Bardan said that the CPI was not against progress, or against Information Technology, but they wanted a path which protected the interests of the poor people. Mr. Bardan said that they believed that the Communist Party's ideology linked to Information Technology and progress protected the interests of the poorer sections of society.

The 50th anniversary celebrations were held at the Lalitha Kala Thoranam in Public Gardens here. Puvvada Nageswara Rao, Chairman of Visalandhra Vignana Samithi, said that Visalandhra stood the test of time, by projecting the voice of the downtrodden sections of society, and in favour of unity of all Telugu speaking people. The foundation for Visalandhra was laid by Communist leaders like Chandra Rajeswara Rao, Puchalapalli Sundarayya and Madukuri Chandrasekhara Rao, he said.

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu offered to give a site for the Visalandhra in Hyderabad to set up its own printing press and publish an edition. Mr. Nageswara Rao had earlier said that they planned to set up editions at Visakhapatnam and Tirupati though the paper was incurring a loss.

The recipient of Gnanpith award, C.Narayana Reddy, MP, Mr. B.V.Raghavulu, the Chairman of Press Academy of Andhra Pradesh, I.Venkata Rao, Mr. B.V.Raghavulu, were among those who conveyed their greetings to Visalandhra.
