Sonia calls on Narayanan

NEW DELHI JUNE 22. The Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, today had a 30-minute meeting with the President, K.R. Narayanan, who is completing his term on July 24.

Ms. Gandhi had last met Mr. Narayanan on May 28 to suggest that he should seek a second term in office as a Congress nominee. Mr. Narayanan later declined to be a candidate for his re-election.

Party sources described the meeting as a ``courtesy call.'' — PTI
