By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD JUNE 22. Pakistan's newly appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Inam-ul- Haq, has said that Islamabad will continue to pursue the policy of de-escalation of tension in the region and persuade India to resume dialogue.

Soon after he was sworn in by the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, here today he told reporters that it was imperative for both India and Pakistan to return to the negotiating table to resolve all their differences.

``We intend to continue to pursue the policy of trying to de-escalate tensions and to persuade India to resume a dialogue with Pakistan on the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir and all other outstanding issues.'' This was in the interest of regional peace and security.

On the political front, Mr. Haq said "we will continue to work with the international community to promote international and also regional peace and security. Pakistan would pursue the policy of friendship with all countries and enmity with none policy."
