FARIDKOT JUNE 22. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Rajya Sabha member and son of the former Punjab Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal, was booked by the Punjab police on charges of attempting to murder a photo-journalist, Naresh Sehgal, during 1999, sources said here today.

The case was made on Friday on the direction of Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Faridkot Superintendent of Police, Vijay Kumar, said.

Mr. Naresh Sehgal, has alleged that Badal and his supporters snatched his camera and assaulted him with the intention of killing him.

They also attacked his father and brother, he said.

Hehad moved the High Court last year which directed the police earlier this month to register a case against Badal and his supporters.

However, no arrests have been made so far, the SP said. — PTI
