New Delhi
By Our Staff Reporter
According to the police, Vijay (22), a resident of Dakshinpuri in South Delhi, had come along with his friend, Mukesh, to the Khoda Colony house of Usha at New Ashok Nagar around 9-30 p.m. Vijay asked Usha to come along with him to his place. However, the girl refused. An altercation ensued between the two following which he whipped out a country-made revolver and fired at her. Usha, however, escaped with superficial injuries as the bullet grazed past her ears. Meanwhile, Vijay did not stop at that and entered into an argument with Usha's father, Padam Singh. As the family members tried to intervene and bring the matter under control, Vijay threatened the family with dire consequences. He also fired a shot in the air. Following this, Vijay was overpowered by Padam Singh. He was then handed over to the police. The police have booked him on charges of attempt to murder, threatening and keeping illegal arms. Preliminary investigations revealed that Vijay and Usha were neighbours at Dakshinpuri and were friendly with each other. Sometime ago, Padam Singh's wife had died. Padam Singh then shifted to Khoda Colony after marrying another woman. Vijay could not digest his separation with Usha. New Ashok Nagar police have launched a hunt for Mukesh, who is absconding and are ascertaining the antecedents of Vijay.
