According to the police, the incident came to light when neighbours complained of foul smell emanating from house No. 22, Gali No. 10 at Andha Mughal in Pratap Nagar around 10 p.m. The police arrived and broke the lock to gain access to the second floor room. The body, later identified as that of 19-year-old Sunny who lived a few blocks away, was found beneath a cot. Sunny had been brutally stabbed in the stomach, chest, eyes and his throat was slit. Preliminary investigations revealed that Sunny, a student of Class X at Senior Secondary School in Pratap Nagar, had got a compartment in the recent examinations held by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and was taking tuitions. Yesterday, he came back from tuitions in the afternoon and asked his mother to give him something to eat. His mother told him that there was no flour in the house. Sunny then left the house saying that he would be back in a few minutes after buying flour from the market. That was the last time Sunny was seen. After a search in the area proved futile, Sunny's father got a missing report lodged at the Andha Mughal police post. Late in the evening, Sunny's body was discovered from the room where his three friends used to live. Investigations revealed that Sunny used to spend a lot of time with Sumit, who used to study in the same school, and lived with his brother Dinesh in house No. 22. Dinesh, a resident of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, used to live along with his brother Sumit and two others -- Amit and Ramesh, also from his native place. Dinesh, who drives an autorickshaw, had gone to his native place for the past one month. The news of the death spread quickly in the area and sympathisers and relatives of Sunny's family got angry. They threatened the landlord, Vijender Pal Singh, and others in the area of dire consequences. The heated exchange of words gave way to stone pelting following which a call was made to the Police Control Room. A PCR constable, Om Pal, also sustained injuries in the fracas. Senior police officials rushed to the spot and a company of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and local police were summoned to the spot. The situation was now reported to be entirely under control. The police believe that the killing might be a result of personal enmity. They are suspecting the involvement of Sunny's friends as they have not been seen since the incident. Meanwhile, Pratap Nagar police have registered a case of murder and are investigating further.
