India can develop ICBMs: Rao

MEERUT JUNE 24. India is capable of developing Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles, the former chairman of Space Commission, U.R. Rao, has said.

The country had enough scientific and technological competency to develop ICBMs, he said here on Sunday.

Mr. Rao, who was awarded an honorary D. Litt by the Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor of Ch Charan Singh University, Meerut, Vishnu Kant Shastri, said India's space programme strived for peace and welfare of humanity.

The country had no plans for a moon mission, he added.
