Talks on reshuffle

By Neena Vyas

NEW DELHI JUNE 24. The first detailed consultations on the expected Cabinet re-shuffle, billed as a major mid-term exercise, could take place tomorrow between the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, and the Union Home Minister, L.K.Advani.

Leaders of the BJP in the party and the government hinted that the exercise was earlier planned for major changes not only in the ministry but also in the party. Mr. Advani himself had stated this at the Goa national executive meet of the party in April, but with the BJP president, Jana Krishnamurthi, today ruling out moving into a Cabinet position, party leaders feel that a major shake-up may not take place.
