Letters to the Editor
Sir The rumble created by Alex Perry's article on the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, has assumed proportions of a tumultuous din. We have rightly gulped the bait thrown at us. We have not yet learnt how not to react at the slightest of provocation. The article should have been considered a piece of cowboy chatter in print and left to gather dust. The hue and cry raised by the Prime Minister's Office has done no good except for exposing the low levels of restraint practised in our country. The article might have been written in bad taste, but the concern shown towards it by the PMO shows the high levels of preoccupation the nation has with it at a time when there are much more serious things to consider.
