SC-ST workers protest near Advani's residence

NEW DELHI JUNE 27. Hundreds of workers of the All India Confederation of SC/ST Organisations, along with supporters of the Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind and the All India Christian Council, today demonstrated near the residence of the Home Minister, L.K. Advani, to protest the alleged police atrocities against the Confederation workers on June 21. The protest was organised under the banner of the newly-formed Save India Front.

The protesters gathered near the Safdarjung Tomb and moved towards Mr. Advani's residence on Prithviraj Road, but were stopped by police who were deployed in large numbers. The march was then converted into a public meeting.

Addressing the protestors, the Confederation chairman and the Front's convenor, Udit Raj, charged that after killing Muslims in Gujarat, the BJP Government was now targeting Dalits The Save India Front leaders later submitted a memorandum containing their demands at the Home Minister's residence.
