Top bureaucrats reshuffled

NEW DELHI JUNE 27. In a senior-level bureaucratic reshuffle of IAS officials at the Centre, R.M. Prem Kumar was today appointed Secretary, National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Till now working as Additional Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy, he belongs to the 1968 batch of the Maharashtra cadre.

D. K. Sankaran will be the new Additional Secretary of the Atomic Energy Commission. He is from the 1970 batch of the Maharashtra cadre of the IAS.

Vinod Kumar Malhotra of the 1970 batch of the U.P. cadre has been appointed Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion.

Sarita Prasad of the 1969 batch of the Himachal Pradesh cadre has been appointed Additional Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. She replaces P.C. Rawal who has been shifted to the Department of Telecommunications as Additional Secretary. He is from the 1969 batch of the U.P. cadre of the IAS.

R Poornalingam of the 1970 batch of the Tamil Nadu cadre and presently posted as Additional Secretary, Department of Power, has been shifted to the Cabinet Secretariat in the same capacity. Priyadarshi Thakur, NAFED Managing Director, has been upgraded to the rank of Additional Secretary. She belongs to the 1970 batch of the Rajasthan cadre.

Prem Singh Rana, Joint Secretary, Land Resources Department, has been promoted as Additional Secretary in the same department in place of Mohan Kanda who is retiring on June 30. Binod Kumar has been upgraded as Special Director, in the rank of Additional Secretary for six months.

Meenakshi Datta Ghosh, belonging to the 1970 batch of the AGMU cadre, has been appointed Project Director, NACO and Additional Secretary in the Department of Health.

Ajit Kumar Jain from the 1970 batch of the U.P. cadre will join the Power Ministry as Additional Secretary. S. Lakshminarayanan, Joint Secretary, Information Technology, has been upgraded to Additional Secretary in the same department.

Suresh Chandra, Joint Secretary and Financial Adviser, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers moves to the Small Scale Industries Department as Development Commissioner in place of S. K. Tuteja.

Sunila Basant of the Jharkhand cadre of the 1970 batch has been appointed Additional Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances.

P Jyoti Rao of the 1970 batch of the Uttaranchal cadre moves to the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation as Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser.

Somnath Pal has been appointed Managing Director of TRIFED in the rank of Additional Secretary.

Anand Bordia has been made Additional Secretary in the Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare. He replaces R.K. Chandra who has been made a member of the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC).
