Extension for Jalan?

NEW DELHI JUNE 27. The Centre has decided to give Bimal Jalan another two-year extension as Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, sources in Finance Ministry said here today. A notification is likely to be issued in the next 3-4 days.

Mr. Jalan's second term as RBI Governor will end later this year. Mr. Jalan, who was first appointed as RBI Governor in 1997 for three years, was favoured to maintain the momentum of financial sector reforms as also its stability.
