Deepan maintains lead

KOZHIKODE JULY 2. Deepan Chakravarthy of India maintained his sole lead at the end of the sixth round of the Asian junior chess championship at Marawila (Sri Lanka) on Tuesday. Though he was held to a draw in the sixth round by teammate Preetham R. Sharma, Deepan, with 5.5 points, was still a full point ahead of S. Kidambi, Mark Paragua and Preetham.

P. Priya snatched the sole lead in the girls' section, beating fellow-Indian J.E. Kavitha. Another Indian, Tania Sachdev, was in the second position with five points.

Boys: Preetham R. Sharma 4.5 drew with Deepan Chakravarthy 5.5; Ghaem Maghami 3.5 lost to Mark Paragua Mark 4.5; Sundararajan Kidambi 4.5 bt Smerdon David Craig 3.5; Peyman Mohajerin 4 drew with S. Satyapragyan 4; Megaranto Susanto 3.5 lost to G. Rohit 4; Nuwan De Silva 3 drew with Edirisinghe Dulan 3.5.
