Sinha's departure

Sir, — The former Finance Minister, Yashwant Sinha's departure from the North Block should be greeted with loud cheers of joy by every honest, tax-paying salaried (and harried) individual. A couple of months ago, an article in your magazine section stated that India has about 28 million of salaried people and about 28.2 million tax payers. The salaried class should distribute sweets among themselves and celebrate the exit of Mr. Sinha as Finance Minister for the simple reason that his successor cannot do any worse.

N. Parthasarathy,
Mumbai
