Bedlam in Bihar Assembly

Patna July 3. The Bihar Assembly today witnessed uproarious scenes as agitated ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal members created a ruckus demanding the resignation of the Railway Minister, Nitish Kumar, following the Centre's decision to review the bifurcation of the Eastern Railway, a move vehemently being opposed by the NDA's ally, Trinamool Congress.

As the zero hour began, the RJD MLA, Dasai Choudhury, raised the issue, informing the House that the Prime Minister had asked a Cabinet sub-committee to review the bifurcation.

Amid strong protest by the Opposition MLAs, Mr. Choudhury said the Centre's decision was against the resolution unanimously adopted by the State Assembly on Friday last hailing Mr. Kumar's bid for setting up a new railway zone — the East Central Railway, by unifying Danapur, Mughalsarai, Dhanbad and Samastipur divisions of the Eastern Railway.

The Speaker, Sadanand Singh, took serious exception to Mr. Choudhury's submission and said ``matters relating to the Centre can not be discussed in the House.''
