New UPCC chief appointed

NEW DELHI JULY 3. The speculation over the successor to Sri Prakash Jaiswal following his resignation as Uttar Pradesh Congress president ended today with the appointment of two-time Minister, Arun Kumar Singh Munna, to the post.

Mr. Munna's appointment was announced at a press briefing here by the AICC treasurer, Motilal Vora, who is also in-charge of Uttar Pradesh affairs.

On factionalism in the State unit, he said: "those differences ended on June 20 when over a 100 State leaders committed themselves to work unitedly to rebuild the party in the State''.
