Ex-militants attacked

SRINAGAR JULY 5. The Jammu and Kashmir Awami Mahaz general-secretary, Anwar Hussain, was killed and its chairman, Ghulam Nabi Dar, was injured when militants showered bullets on them in their office at Karan Nagar in the city this afternoon.

A group of militants entered the office of the JKAM around 12.30 p.m. and opened fire with automatic weapons.Mr. Anwar Hussain died before he could be shifted to a hospital, while the chairman was stated to be critical. The members of the JKAM are mostly former militants who have shun the path of violence and are working for peace in the Valley.
