Satish Kumar to lead India

KOLKATA JULY 5. Goalkeeper V.P. Satish Kumar of Bengal will lead a 20-member Indian team in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) under-20 group IV qualifier to be held at the Salt Lake Stadium here from July 10.

The single round-robin league competition will have four teams including India. The other teams are Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Bhutan. The group topper will move into the finals to be played at Qatar in October.

Uzbek Islam Akhmedov will be the chief coach of the Indian team. The other coaching staff include Maricio Afanso and Mridul Banerjee.

The squad:

Goalkeepers: V.P. Satish Kumar (captain) and Imran Khan (both Bengal) and Malagrio Medeira (Goa). Defenders: Amandeep Singh, Manas Das, Amjad Ali Khan, Palash Karmakar (all Bengal), Shivamani Eshwaran and James Singh (both Karnataka) and Prasant Jaggi (Goa). Midfielders: Malswan Tulanga and Bhuvan Chandra Joshi (both Bengal), T. Bungo Singh (Goa) and Mohd. Bin Hasan (Karnataka).Forwards: Syed Rahim Nabi, Ashim Biswas and Subhash Chakraborty (all Bengal), Birjab Machahary (Assam), Joyful Hauzel (Meghalaya) and Pradeep N.P. (Kerala).
