1,500 phone lines hit

Pondicherry July 6. As many as 1500 phone connections were affected in Mettupalayam wing today following `damage to the four cable lines` at the Sokkanathanpet because of maintenance work carried out by a Government department on one of their projects in the area, an official of the telecom department said here today.

The lines covering R. K. Nagar, parts of Gorimedu, Navasakthi Nagar, Tilagar Nagar,VVP Nagar, Kundupalayam, Koundanpalayam, Mohan Nagar and SBI colony had been hit and restoration would be done by Monday, the official said.
