Aditi Mutatkar hogs the limelight

CHENNAI JULY 6. The Pune girl Aditi Mutatkar was the centre of attention after she reached the final in two events on the penultimate day of the Krishna Khaitan memorial junior tennis tournament at the Nehru indoor stadium on Saturday.

The top seed in the Under-16 section, Aditi expectedly made it to the title-round but it was in the Under-19 semifinal against Andhra Pradesh's B.R. Sri Lakshmi that took a tricky route after she had a nasty slip midway leading to painful moments around the back of her right thigh. The gritty girl, who trains at the BPL Academy in Pune seemed to lose grip but bounced back after a momentary off-court attention, to win in three games. The short girl, who finished runner up to Krishna Deka Raja in the junior national championship, will now face the same Assamese in what will be a renewed tussle for supremacy.

In the boys' junior section the top two seeds, Bahniman Bora, the current national junior champion from Assam and second seed Nishad Dravid of Maharashtra will face each other in the final. Both had comfortable semi-final victories. Atleast Nishad had a minor fight against Kerala's Vineeth Manual but Savan Nawaz, another Kerala player caved in meekly to Bora.
