Kerala-Thiruvananthapuram
By Our Staff Reporter
The samithy State president, T. Nasiruddin, had suspended the three for six months on various charges. Mr. Ramachandran, Mr. Vijayan and Mr. Basu told presspersons here today that action has been taken against them since they moved a no-trust motion against Mr. Nasiruddin. With the support of members from six districts, the no-confidence motion can be moved successfully but they said they would not allow the president to split the samithy. The court has given a clear direction that no further action should be taken against them, Mr. Ramchandran said. The State office-bearers of the samithy had met in Thrissur on June 29 and 30 but the issue of taking action against the three was not discussed at the meeting. Two days after the meeting, they got information about the suspension through the media. So far they have not got any memo, Mr. Ramachandran said. Even the State general secretary, K. Hassan Koya, who is the official spokesman and is in charge of administration, came to know of the disciplinary action only through newspapers. Koya has been kept in the dark of the action, Mr. Ramachandran alleged. Mr. Nasiruddin had alleged that there was misappropriation of the funds collected for the victims of Kargil war, Gujarat quake and Amboori landslip. . A sum of Rs. 1 lakh was handed over to the State committee and Rs. 1,52,680 was donated to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. The Rs. 2,34,859.75 collected for Gujarat fund was straightaway handed over to the State committee. The accounts were presented at the annual general meeting held on June 17 last year and the meeting had approved it too. The charges were levelled since the Ernakulam district committee moved the no-confidence motion and the Thiruvananthapuram unit supported it. Mr. Ramachandran and others said that they would not take any step that would lead to a split but would ensure that the motion was passed.
