By B. Muralidhar Reddy
Salahuddin, chief of Pakistan Rangers, told a news conference that the group had tried to assassinate Gen. Musharraf last April when he had gone to Karachi to address his last rally for the Presidential referendum. ``They had positioned a vehicle with remote bomb en-route to the airport the evening Gen. Musharraf was to return from Karachi to Islamabad after addressing the rally. Fortunately the remote did not work.''
