Nation's last hope

Sir, — The rigorous imprisonment awarded to the former Union Minister, Sukh Ram, is an instance to show that the corrupt politicians can only run but cannot hide and will get convicted eventually.

The observations of the special judge, V.K. Jain, that punishment would be severe enough to make every offending politician regret the moment he decided to eat the forbidden fruit goes to prove that the judiciary can save our nation even if the Government gets into the hands of politicians for whom wealth to their name can mean more than prosperity to the nation.

S. Raghavan,
Sirsa, Haryana
