Varsity status granted

GANDHINAGAR JULY 11. As a tribute to the late chairman of the Reliance Industries, the Gujarat Cabinet has decided to give university status under the University Grants Commission Act to the Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology which has started functioning as a registered society here since August last year.

The Cabinet spokesman and Urban Development Minister, I. K. Jadeja, told mediapersons that the Institute with an intake of 600 students started with 246 under-graduate and 125 post-graduate students last year.
