Letters to the Editor
Sir, Lawyers boycott courts whenever something untoward happens to one of their brethren. The recent case is the murder of the criminal lawyer, Madanagopal, in Chennai. They also assemble in large numbers in front of important courts and behave in an unruly manner in support of their demands. Instead, it is expected of them to strive hard and ensure that the culprits are brought to book. Their behaviour shows that they have no faith in the law of the land, which they are supposed to practise in defending their clients. This only makes a mockery of their professional ethics and beliefs. Severe action should be initiated against the lawyers who participate in such gatherings for a breach of code of conduct.
