Letters to the Editor
Sir C. Bal Krishna's article `India's interest in Sudan' (July 8) is a fairly good account of that country by a person with first-hand information. I have visited Sudan several times in the past and have had the opportunity to be associated with their people for more than a quarter of a century in my business pursuits. Of late, I have been saddened to see the fertile Nile delta remain grossly unutilised. The people there are friendly and have a high standard of moral, cultural and ethical values. They are fond of Indians too, and it would not be a bad idea at all if the ONGC goes ahead with the proposed venture.
