Letters to the Editor
Sir, In his letter `Not Acharya's domain' (July 4), Sivasubramanian has wished that the Kanchi Acharya, Jayendra Saraswati, confine himself to math activities and refrain from making efforts to solve the Ram temple issue. In the prevailing condition, when the country and almost every nation in the world are witnessing turbulence and unrest owing to various reasons, social service from every quarter, including maths, churches and mosques has become necessary in order to bring peace. If religious heads are to confine themselves to spreading their respective religions, the two world class super-speciality hospitals one at Puttaparti and the other at Whitefield, Bangalore giving free medical treatment which would cost lakhs of rupees in private hospitals, and the University at Puttaparti offering free education up to PG level would not have come up.
