Jammu & Kashmir

The State Congress chief, Ghulam Nabi Azad, is seeking the support of the Hurriyat Conference for ``coming to power'' ignoring the role played by the 23-party amalgam in the last decade, Mr. Abdullah said. He said Mr. Azad should vacate the Rajya Saba seat he won with the blessings of the NC. The NC supported him when he was ``deserted by his own party''. Now morality demands that he should quit his seat and only then challenge the NC. He said ``the National Conference will not allow trifurcation. The demand is against the very spirit of the country's secular fabric and our State is a unique blend of cultural ethos and communal amity and is the shining symbol of India's unity in diversity concept.''
