Trinamool stages rail blockades

KOLKATA JULY 13 . The Trinamool Youth Congress today organised ``token'' rail blockades at the stations of Eastern and South Eastern Railways to protest against the bifurcation of the two railways and threatened a State-wide ``militant movement'' if the Vajpayee Government did not stall the move.

It was a ``token affair'' apparently in view of the assurance by the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, that a decision on the issue would be taken by tomorrow.

The Trinamool leader, Mamata Banerjee, has adopted a ``wait and watch'' policy and deferred agitation. She was to announce her next course of action yesterday.

The blockades at Howrah, Sealdah and Asansol divisions of the Eastern and South Eastern Railways from 10 a.m. led to a number of trains, including the 2303 up Poorva Express, 2024 dn. Patna-Howrah Satabdi Express and 2322 dn.
