J&K trifurcation demand rejected

SRINAGAR JULY 16. The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly today rejected the demand for trifurcation of the State and said it would not be in the larger interest of the country and the State, and was a dangerous game intended to harm the secular credentials of India.

Amid uproarious scenes over the Qasim Nagar massacre, all the political parties rejected the demand for trifurcation as suggested by the RSS and the VHP.

The discussion was moved by the National Conference MLA, Syed Abdur Rasheed, the Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami CPI (M), Bali Baghat (BJP), Abdur Rehman Veeri (PDP), Sheikh Abdur Rehman (BSP).

The National Conference members, Abdul Majid Mir, Saifullah Mir and Mohammad Sharief Tariq also spoke on the issue.
