Sir, The reference to the late Congress leader, K. Kamaraj, as "black Gandhi" in your report "Congress trying to capitalise on Kamaraj" (July 15) was distasteful. Was the real Gandhi white, by any chance? Why introduce an element of race where there is none? You should not be legitimising meaningless phrases by reasserting them. It might have been better to describe him as the Tamil Gandhi. Vijaya Subramanian, Chennai
